Terms of Service

Last updated April 28, 2026. These terms explain the basic rules for using Moonstone and connected storage providers.

Overview

Moonstone is a browser-based Markdown vault and personal knowledge management workspace. By using Moonstone, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use Moonstone.

Your account

Certain Moonstone features require an account. Authentication and account management are provided through Clerk.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.

You must provide accurate account information and use Moonstone only in compliance with applicable law.

Your content

You keep ownership of the Markdown notes, files, folders, attachments, and other content you create, upload, import, or connect to Moonstone.

You give Moonstone permission to process your content only as needed to provide the service, including opening, displaying, saving, syncing, exporting, importing, backing up, and managing your vault according to the features you use.

You are responsible for the content you store in Moonstone Cloud or connect through Bridge Mode, including making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to use that content.

Moonstone Cloud and Bridge Mode

Moonstone Cloud stores your vault data using Moonstone-managed Supabase infrastructure.

Bridge Mode lets you connect Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive so Moonstone can open a provider-backed Markdown vault in place. When you authorize Bridge Mode, you allow Moonstone to access, read, create, update, download, delete, and sync files in that provider account as needed for the connected vault workflow.

You can disconnect a Bridge Mode provider from Moonstone. Provider-side access may also need to be revoked through the provider account settings. Files that remain in your provider account are governed by that provider's terms and settings.

Third-party services

Moonstone depends on third-party services, including Clerk, Supabase, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. Those services may have their own terms, privacy policies, availability limits, security requirements, and account rules.

Moonstone is not responsible for third-party service outages, provider API changes, account restrictions, permission changes, deleted files, or other provider-side issues outside Moonstone's control.

Acceptable use

You may not use Moonstone to break the law, violate the rights of others, upload or distribute malware, interfere with the security or availability of the service, reverse engineer restricted parts of the service, abuse provider APIs, or try to access data that does not belong to you.

You may not use Moonstone in a way that would cause Moonstone, its infrastructure providers, or connected storage providers to violate their terms or policies.

Paid features

Some features may require a paid plan or subscription. If you purchase a paid plan, the price, renewal period, cancellation terms, and included features are the ones shown at checkout or in the product at the time of purchase.

Moonstone may change plans, pricing, or feature availability over time, but changes will not reduce paid access already promised for a current billing period unless required for security, legal, or operational reasons.

Beta and availability

Moonstone may include preview, beta, or experimental features. These features may change, break, lose data, or be removed as the product evolves.

Moonstone is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. Moonstone does not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free sync, provider availability, or that every file type or vault structure will work perfectly.

You should keep your own backups or exports of important notes and files.

Account deletion and termination

You can export your vault as Markdown and delete your Moonstone account from the app when supported. You can also contact Moonstone for help exporting or deleting Moonstone-managed account, vault, and connection records. Account deletion does not delete files that remain in a connected Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive account unless you delete those files separately.

Moonstone may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create security or operational risk, misuse provider integrations, fail to pay required fees, or if Moonstone is required to do so by law.

Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Moonstone disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Moonstone will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or service interruptions.

Moonstone's total liability for claims relating to the service will be limited to the amount you paid Moonstone for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or 100 US dollars if you have not paid Moonstone.

Changes to these terms

Moonstone may update these terms as the product changes. When the terms change, Moonstone will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Moonstone after changes means you accept the updated terms.
