Writing

Write comfortably in Markdown

Moonstone stores notes as Markdown, but you do not need to memorize Markdown to write well.

Write normally

Click into a note and start typing. Moonstone keeps the editor clean while still saving the note as a Markdown file.

Your note title comes from the filename. If you rename the note, Moonstone renames the file too.

Use the toolbar when syntax gets in the way

The toolbar gives you common formatting actions such as headings, bold, italic, links, lists, and templates.

Use it whenever you do not want to remember the Markdown characters yourself.

Preview before you share or review

Preview mode shows the note as a clean document. Return to editing when you want to make changes.

This is useful for longer notes, meeting summaries, drafts, and anything you want to read from top to bottom.

Keep notes simple

Short notes are easier to link, search, and reuse. When a note starts covering two ideas, split one idea into a new note and link them.
