Connect notes with links, tags, and graph view

Use links for related notes

A wikilink connects one note to another. Type [[, choose a note, and Moonstone adds the link.

Use links when one note explains, supports, contrasts with, or continues another note.

1. Open the note you are writing.
2. Type [[ where you want the connection.
3. Choose an existing note or create a new one from the link.

Use backlinks to see context

Backlinks show the notes that mention the current note. They are useful when you want to see where an idea is being reused.

If a note has no backlinks yet, that is fine. Good notes often start alone and gain connections later.

Use tags for loose groups

Tags are best for themes that cut across folders, such as #research, #meeting, #idea, or #todo.

Avoid tagging everything on day one. Add tags when you notice a group you want to find again.

Use graph view after you have a few notes

Graph view helps you see clusters and disconnected notes. It is most helpful after you have created links across several notes.
